Lucy Vond Thomas
Lucy Vond was born January 10, 1861 in Pike county, Illinois.
From a great grand child:
My grandmother's mother, Lucy Vond Thomas in 1906 was the first teacher and taught the first school in the community during territorial days and after statehood. She had to walk three miles to school every morning, but she was faithful and proud of the new school. Her salary was paid by the patrons of the community and amounted to whatever they were able to pay her. After statehood she drew the first warrant in Creek County Oklahoma. She was a pioneer.
